PLANETARY MOVEMENTS
The planets appear to move through the sky against the backdrop of the zodiac. And similarly, they seem to move around your horoscope, which is a snapshot or blueprint or map of the zodiac at the time you were born. As they move, they sometimes appear to slow down or accelerate and sometimes seem to stop totally. Planets like Mercury and Mars often seem to 'surge' forward into the next sign and slower ones, like Saturn, almost lumber. All planets except the sun and the moon can appear to move backwards. This is called retrograde motion. The effects are usually to slow down events and give you time to reflect on issues.
The PLANETS ARE:
The Sun - The Sun takes approximately one month to move through each sign of the zodiac. It reflects your personal destiny, goals, aims and vocation.
The Moon - Taking only a few days to move through one sign of the zodiac, the moon's cycle reflects your emotional reactions, needs and feelings. In your birthchart it describes what gives you a sense of belonging and safety.
Mercury - Fast moving but erratic, Mercury reflects your communication and the way you interact with others. It is also the planet of contradiction and paradox.
Venus - Venus describes what gives you pleasure, both in sexual relationships and in the world generally; Venus also reflects the kind of
people you are attracted to and who is attracted to you.
Mars - describes how you go after something you want. Your assertiveness, anger, will and ego. It reveals how you confront and compete in the world at large.
Jupiter - Often called the plaet of 'luck', Jupiter reflects both good and bad luck. Jupiter inflates situations, but is a catalyst for romance and excitement in your life. Jupiter takes about a year to move through one sig of the zodiac.
Saturn - reflects your boundaries and defence mechanisms. It takes approximately two years to move through one sign of the zodiac, so it's transiting influence is to structure and bring you down to earth in specific areas of your life depending on it's position in your chart.
Uranus - Unpredictable and radical, Uranus reflects sudden events, surprise encounters, electrifying chemistry between strangers. A slow moving planet, it takes approximately seven years to move through one sign of the zodiac, so it has a 'collective' and generational influence rather than a personal one.
Neptune - Again, an 'outer' planet which has a glamourising and confusing influence in the collective. Neptune casts illusions and romance over events and people and can confuse you about your true feelings.
Pluto - Transformative Pluto spends an erratic number of years in each sign, and again has a long-term generational influence. In your personal chart it can reflect power issues in intimate relationships, for good and bad.
RULING PLANETS
The planet which rules your chart is very important because it adds spice and flavour to your 'solar' journey. Every sign of the zodiac has a 'ruler' or a planet which becomes the henchman to your sun. The ruler of your chart is determined by which zodiac sign is rising (the ascendant) at the moment of birth.
Aries is ruled by MARS
Taurus is ruled by VENUS
Gemini is ruled by MERCURY
Cancer is ruled by the MOON
Leo is ruled by the SUN
Virgo is ruled by MERCURY
Libra is ruled be VENUS
Scorpio is ruled by PLUTO
Sagittarius is ruled by JUPITER
Capricorn is ruled by SATURN
Aquarius is ruled by URANUS
Pisces is ruled by NEPTUNE
ASPECTS
Aspects occur when there is a resonant dynamic played out between two planets in the sky - in other words in your horoscope. It appears as if they form an angle and the most important ones are called trines (120 degrees apart), conjunctions (when they appear to be in the same degree), squares (90 degrees apart), oppositions (180 degrees apart) and sextiles (60 degrees apart). Most astrologers allow an orb of up to 8 - 10 degrees for these aspects. Aspects to your sun and moon particularly add a very powerful combination of the energy and characteristics of the planets involved in the aspect.
HOUSES
There are twelves areas of the chart called houses, as there are twelve signs, but they don't necessarily correspond to each other. The chart is divided up into twelve unequal segments (although there is a House system called the Equal House system, just to confuse matters) to make up the complete horoscope of 360 degrees. As the planets move through the houses they emphasize different areas of your life which will be in focus or prominent at the time of the planetary transits.
THE PHASES OF THE MOON
The Moon's cycle lasts approximately 30 days as it appears to move round the zodiac. We usually notice the Full Moon because this is when the Sun is directly opposite the Moon and casts it's light onto the Moon's surface. The Moon only stays in one sign for about two or three days and transits your Sun and all the planets in your chart on a regular basis. The phases of the moon are: the New Moon, the First Quarter Moon, the Full Moon and the Last Quarter Moon. For example, a New Moon on June 29th in Cancer will be followed by a First Quarter moon a week later, then a full moon about one week later, a Last Quarter Moon a week after that, and another New Moon in Leo around the 29th July. The New Moon is a good time to start out on a new quest, and put the past behind you. The First Quarter Moon is about getting ahead, seducing, persuading. The Full Moon is a critical turning point when it's time to make decisions and face your true feelings or for completing what you set out to do under the New Moon. The Last Quarter Moon is for reflection, awareness of one's mistakes and for being realistic about your quest.
LUNAR/SOLAR ECLIPSES
These happen a few times every year and used to be considered bad omens by the ancients. Actually, they just bring into focus personal issues you need to confront or things which need attention or closure. A Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth gets in the way of the sun's light shining directly on the moon (usually a full moon). There appears to be a dark shadow moving across the Moon. The easiest way to remember what a Lunar Eclipse means is to say 'the present blots out the past' . (The moon is often associated with the past in astrology as the Earth is with the present). For example whatever issues you need to clarify in your current situation think about them and don't dwell on the past. A Solar Eclipse is when the moon gets in the way of the sun, so we can't see all of the sun, and in some places on earth we are plunged into darkness during the day. The easiest way to interpret a solar eclipse is to say 'the past blots out the future.' (The sun is associated with the future.) For example, there are things which you have denied, repressed or avoided in the past which now
need attention or bringing to light before you get on with your goals.
THE ELEMENTS
Each zodiac sign belongs to one of the four elements. It's useful to know them because signs that are of the same element usually have a great natural affinity for each other.
The element of Fire: Aries, Leo Sagittarius. The Fire signs are highly motivated, forward thinking visionaries.
The element of Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. The Earth signs are practical, realistic and build solid relationships.
The element of Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. The Air signs are intellectual, rational and idealistic.
The element of Water" Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces. The Water signs are deeply connected to their feelings, instincts and intuition.

Master Your Destiny
It is sad to observe certain section of Astrologers to involve in practices which induces fear and fatalism in masses, just for the sake of manipulating them to fulfill their own agendas. It is unfortunate that superstitions have been ruling over the minds of Indians in the name of Astrology. Such a divine science could have been used to explore the deeper potential of human being and show him the path through various difficulties, so that one can live life fully. On the contrary Astrological beliefs have often induced inaction, as people have no courage to live the life and hence all their efforts are geared towards avoiding the crisis in life. As their astrologer told them of the forthcoming difficulties, they gave up their efforts to wait for the better times. However, very often they realized to their own peril that even when the good times arrived, there were hardly any results. Only thing many people seem to achieve through astrology is to remain worried about their forthcoming crisis and hiding in a cocoon to safeguard themselves. But sadly, in this whole process they miss the joy of accomplishing their potential, because of the misuse of astrology by a presenting it as a tool for definitive predictions by certain segment of Astrologers to fulfill their narrow motives.
This has hence become the cause for people of higher awareness to keep away from Astrology, who could have otherwise used it as a wonderful strategic tool to make the right choices in life. If we want to extract the best out of Astrology and live a fulfilled life, we need to understand that Astrology can be used to cultivate awareness and intelligence, and hence transforming the challenges into opportunities. We must know that the so called good times only turn out to be good, if we made total efforts even in our so called tough times. Very often, the seed of the major breakthroughs are often sown in tough times, even though the results of the same appear in good times only. If one avoids the difficulties of tough times, he is also going to miss out on most of the positive results, when the good times arrive. Hence we should use Astrology to live every moment fully with an understanding that every moment is full of potential. If Astrology is used with such an understanding, it can show us the way to live a successful life by helping us to master our own destiny.
Before we proceed to our subject, it will be helpful to look deeply into destiny and free will and understand what they really mean. Many of us may out rightly reject the concept of destiny as we find it derogatory that our lives are not in our own control and someone called God sitting somewhere may be playing with our lives just for the sake of his own fun. Logical minds find it difficult to accept that we may just be puppets in the hands of destiny and it can make us dance to it’s own tune, even if we don’t wish to. However, many times we face such kind of crisis, which appears to pop up on it’s own without any faults of ours. In the aftermath of such periods, one is forced to accept the role of destiny, when a few of such incidents have taken place.
On the other hand, some of us swear and live in a way that it is destiny which is paramount in the way our lives shape up. Hence we refuse to take any proactive action as we believe that whatever is supposed to happen, will happen. So why make futile efforts. We may tend to backtrack on our action and drop the efforts if astrologers have predicted a difficult times for us and wait for good times to take the things forward. However, such kind of life can not be joyous and fulfilled. In our efforts to avoid the crisis, we shape our attitude in such a way which becomes the cause of agonies, fears, aimlessness, resignations and life becomes a bundle of dissatisfactions. Many times we may wish that we would have lived a better life if we did not believe in destiny, as astrology appears like a curse we have to live with.
If we observe our lives carefully; we may realize that both the views are correct. However the question remains, what is the relationship between the destiny and free will? Or at what point the free will is operating and when does the destiny takes over? What is that within us, which is the slave to the destiny and what is that which has the power to be the master? Let us try to understand this by way of an example.

Think of a seed of grape. What will this produce? Obviously – The Grapes. Now you may think that mangoes fetch better prices in market than grapes, and may want to get mangoes out of this. Can this produce mangoes even if you try really hard? Obviously – NO. isn’t it? So the destiny of this seed is to produce grapes and it can not be changes. Now another point to consider is- will every seed of grape produce grapes? Or will every similar seed of grape will produce same quality and quantity of fruits? Obviously – NO. Some of the seeds will just die without producing anything. Some of them will get infected by pests. Some will produce very little. But a few of them will reach their full potential and will produce the large amounts of the best possible quality grapes. The quality and quantity of grapes will depends upon the right nurturing, deeper understanding and appropriate action. This is free will and depends on our own efforts and intelligence.
Now let us look at our lives with reference to the above mentioned example. The biggest cause of the crisis in life is that we do not even know our seed. Our choices are not based on our own potential but they are dictated by benefits one can derive through the outer environment. Hence we may be carrying the seed of grape, but we try to nurture it as if it is the seed of mango, because the mango fetches higher price than the grapes. Such a fight with destiny only results in misdirected choices and wrong actions. Hence the first step towards living a great life is to identify our potential and to live life in tune with that. Astrology can be a wonderful tool towards this.
Next comes a strategy and deep commitment to provide the right circumstances. In the analogy of seed, you need to sow the seed in the right land. Grapes can not be sowed in desert, as it needs a lot of water. You need to provide the right nutrition and keep the diseases away by using the right pesticides. You need to provide the fencing to the sapling to save it from the roaming animals. You also need to understand the climate through the year, so that you can do the right thing at the right time. And when the fruit grows, you need to be aware to let them ripen to the right extent before plucking them. Then you also need to go to the right place, where you can get the best price for your produce. All this requires a deep understanding and the right action at the right time. This is where we exercise the free will.
Hence it is clear that there is no conflict between our destiny and free will. Destiny is our ultimate potential and free will defines the action we can take towards fulfilling our destiny. Astrology can be a great support to live your life by way of helping you to identify your own potential. It can also tell you about the nature of relationships with various people around you, and helps you grow through your social network. It can also warn you about the forthcoming challenges and arm you with that deep intelligence, which can transform them into opportunities. Astology Explained
Astrology is said to be the discipline that teaches us how to create horoscopes and use the positions of celestial bodies, to understand and interpret Human existence on Earth. I often encounter articles and comments questioning whether astrology is a science or trying to prove or disprove astrology in scientific terms. Personally, I don’t see how an analogy between astrology and modern day science can be drawn. Science and astrology are two very different disciplines, based on very different principles. Science follows the principles of experimentation, observation and inference, scientific principles must have theoretical or mathematical proof that must always be consistent. Although astrology has it’s own set of well defined principles, they very different to those of science.
In spite of what many astrologers may claim, astrology is not without limitations and before we can go about proclaiming astrology a science or otherwise, we have to understand what these are. Astrology (Vedic) is believed to be the product of divine inspiration and was imparted to the Hindu sage, ‘Bhrigu’ by the Goddess of wealth, ‘Mahalakshmi’. This knowledge was recorded in ancient sacred texts, of which only remnants still remain. Astrology is not a perfect discipline and is only as good as the astrologer who practices it. His or her proficiency determines how accurate the results turn out to be and depends largely on his or her depth of knowledge, type of experience (nature of the predictions made) and length of experience. It would be still however, be logical to assume that even an astrologer, who is by all accounts well accomplished, could not claim to have complete knowledge of astrology, as his or her knowledge cannot exceed that which is contained in the texts that still exist, as these are incomplete themselves.
As explained on www.PowerFortunes.com, science and astrology are base on diametrically opposite points of view, in that science is still grappling with compelling questions about the Universe, about the creation of the Universe, the possibility of parallel Universes, that infinitesimally small fraction of a second after the Big Bang and the beginning of time.
So what was there before the beginning of time? If the Universe has continued to expand ever since it’s creation, what is it expanding into? Our knowledge is so limited that these questions themselves sound absurd. Vedic astrology on the other hand, comes from a belief system that is based on the principle that an explanation for everything that exists can be found in the Hindu scriptures, or with their help. Many Vedic scholars believe that what scientists are discovering today was known to the sages all along. For instance, the twin Vedic planets, ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ are unique to Vedic astrology. They are said to be represent a mythical serpent, of which ‘Rahu’ is the head and ‘Ketu’ the tail. These two planets are considered to be malefic and devour other forms of energy like endless pits and eclipse or debilitate the Sun and the Moon. The colour of ‘Rahu’ is black and that of ‘Ketu’ is grey. The similarity between ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ and black holes is quite striking, the opposite end of a black hole is thought to be a white dwarf. In spite of what many astrologers may claim, astrology is not without limitations and before we can go about proclaiming astrology a science or otherwise, we have to understand what these are. Astrology (Vedic) is believed to be the product of divine inspiration and was imparted to the Hindu sage, ‘Bhrigu’ by the Goddess of wealth, ‘Mahalakshmi’. This knowledge was recorded in ancient sacred texts, of which only remnants still remain. Astrology is not a perfect discipline and is only as good as the astrologer who practices it. His or her proficiency determines how accurate the results turn out to be and depends largely on his or her depth of knowledge, type of experience (nature of the predictions made) and length of experience. It would be still however, be logical to assume that even an astrologer, who is by all accounts well accomplished, could not claim to have complete knowledge of astrology, as his or her knowledge cannot exceed that which is contained in the texts that still exist, as these are incomplete themselves.
